Welcome to Spring!

 Well, okay, officially not quite yet.  But as I write this the sun is out and the sky is a brilliant blue (one of the 73 annual days on average we get to enjoy this in central Ohio) and I am very hopeful that actual spring is on the way.  I did smile yesterday while walking around our church property when I saw some eager crocus flowers beginning to show their colors.  I am hopeful!

Quite some time ago I stumbled across a most insightful quote from an unlikely theologian.  The quote, “Spring is God’s way of saying, one more time!”, Carlos Santana.  I am reminded each spring that our God revives the world for new production after the long winter’s rest.  This particular winter’s rest seems at this point to be quite long after all our snow.  We do get tired, the gray days take their toll and we anticipate and long for the warmth to come!

 Change a few nouns and we could as well be discussing the role of the Church Administrator.  We also get tired, the gray days take their toll and we anticipate and long for some warmth to show up!  The warmth comes in knowing that we are about the work of the Kingdom and serving in ways to enable the mission to continue! 

 To further our mission we have a couple good things coming your way!  This month’s meeting will address issues of risk management (schedule change) and ways we can continue to safeguard the ministry.  In April we welcome Scott Vaughn for an extended time together to focus on Church communication.  If you’d like to serve on a chapter level your opportunity will show up soon – watch for nominations/election information soon.  And make plans to attend the 54^th National NACBA Conference in Orlando, July 19-23.

 One more; if you are available to join us at Riverside UMC Thursday, March 25 from 4p to 6:30 or any part we are holding our next Small Church Issues gathering.  This is the event that the National Church Administration Day (October 21, 2010) is based on. We reach out to churches without staff administrators to help them through issues pertinent to the function of the church.  You are part of the expertise of our Chapter and we would value your involvement this day!

 Thanks for your faithful serving through the gray days of ministry.  Our Lord visits us daily in the tasks we perform to advance the Kingdom and produce more disciples.  Cheer up – the spring is on the way!
